Online Sic Bo 2024 – How to Play & Win

sic boIf you’re a fan of craps, then you’ll definitely enjoy Sic Bo. In fact, Sic Bo can be a good starting game as the table offers less types of bets and gets you used to calculating payouts.

Sic Bo is a 3-dice casino game, recently optimized for online casinos. The game of Sic Bo itself is a traditional Chinese game. It’s all about dice rolls and numbers though, so you won’t have to worry about any language issues.

It’s also known as the “Big and Small”, which relates to a certain type of bet you can make.

Let’s have a look at the rules of Sic Bo. You’ll see, it’s a relatively easy and quick game to play once you’ve got the hang of it.

Online Sic Bo: Order of Play

With Sic Bo, as in craps, you’ll be betting and rolling die in relatively short rounds. Each betting round is determined by dice combinations – you bet on what numbers you’ll get and you try to hit those numbers with each roll.

As you may have guessed, it’s a purely luck-based game. So the only complex thing about it is memorizing payouts and odds of getting this or that dice roll.

Here’s how you play a game of online Sic Bo:

  • Find a game of instant-play Sic Bo and enable Flash on your browser
  • Once the game has loaded, scroll through chips to choose a betting amount
  • Left click on your chosen bet areas
  • Left-click on your chip piles if you want to increase your bets
  • Press “Shift” and left-click your chip piles to decrease bets
  • Click the “Roll” button once you’re ready
  • Die are “rolled” (RNG determines resulting numbers)
  • Your winning bets will light up on the board
  • Winnings are added to your bankroll, and losses are deduced
  • A new game can begin

Some areas won’t accept more than a $1 bet, like the triple bets. This is because of the extremely high payouts they have.

Different Bets in Online Sic Bo

It’s better to know what you’re doing than to give in to the temptation to scatter chips at random over the table.

The different table sections have different odds and payouts, so if you take the time to learn them, you can optimize your strategy in order to maximize winnings and limit losses.

Single number bets

online sic bo single number betsThis is the line at the bottom of the table, showcasing each dice from one to six. In this section, you’ll be betting on how many times one particular number appears on your three die. You’re of course limited to the numbers 1-6 that are present on the die.

The payout for this type of bet follows the odds of you getting the number once, twice or three times. Therefore, if you only get your number on 1 dice, the payout is 1:1; if you get it on 2 die, it’s 2:1; and if you get it on all 3, it’s 3:1.

Double bets

These are at the top of the table, framing the triple bet section on either side. Here, you’re betting on at least 2 of the same number appearing in your roll.

The payout (8:1) is more interesting than if you get 2 of the same number in single bets, because you won’t have the ease of winning anything if only one of your chosen numbers appears.

Triple bets

These are towards the top-middle of the table, wedged in between the double bets. You’re betting for identical numbers on all die here. So: 555, 111, 333, et cetera.

As getting all three numbers has very little odds, the payout is quite massive at 24:1. But even if you get it, bear in mind that this bet has one of the highest house edges on the table, at 29.8%.

Big and small bets

These are the two big boxes on the top left and top right corners of the table. You’re betting on the total number you’ve rolled here. If you get these, you’ll get a 1:1 payout.

  • Roll 11-17: big bet. Lose if hit 18 or 3-10
  • Roll 4-10: small bet. Lose if hit 11-17

As mentioned above, this bet is the namesake of the game because big and small bets are the ones with the lowest house edge (only 2.8%).

Total number bets

These are the central numbers, ranging from 4 to 17. Like with the big and small, you’re betting on the total amount you’ve rolled. You can combine these bets in order to maximize winnings.

Here’s a payout chart:

  • Total of 4 or 17: Winning bets paid 62:1
  • Total of 5 or 16: Winning bets paid 31:1
  • Total of 6 or 15: Winning bets paid 18:1
  • Total of 7 or 14: Winning bets paid 12:1
  • Total of 8 or 13: Winning bets paid 8:1
  • Total of 9, 10, 11 or 12: Winning bets paid 6:1

Usually, these payouts will be marked on the table, but it’s always handy to make your own, more visibly accessible table when you’re starting out.
