Gnome Wood has been developed by Rabcat and released on Microgaming’s Quickfire platform. The online slot machine offers up a 5-reel, 3-row, 25-line gaming structure, and as you can probably tell from the title and the imagery which appears in the slot machine, this is a fantasy themed video slot. Gnome Wood has a mystical and magical charm about. It’s wagering setup is very Rabcat and can see players stake anything from a floor of 25p per spin, up to £50 a spin. Rather disappointingly, the slot can only pay out a non-progressive jackpot which is capped at 40x your total stake, but the RTP rate is 96.16% and wins occur frequently enough in this animated slot machine.
Two types of wild symbols grace the reels of the Gnome Wood slot. These rune-style symbols are known as wilds and 2x wilds. As you can imagine, the latter can double the value of all winning combinations in which they appear, as well as substitute for all other icons barring scatters. The standard wilds just substitute for non-scatter icons.
Wilds appearing on the second and fifth reels will trigger a re-spin, with wilds moving one position over to the left of the reels. Players will keep bagging re-spins until the wilds have “walked” off the first reel. Landing further wilds will offer additional free re-spins.
The bonus round in Gnome Wood is triggered by landing 3 or more of the golden coin free spin scatter symbols. Players will pocket a total of 10 spins by landing those icons. During the bonus, wandering wilds can appear on any of the reels of the game, and will continue to trigger the wild features previously mentioned. Players can pocket additional spins by landing more wilds on the reels.
Although there is nothing hugely original about the features which appear in Gnome Wood (they’ve all been present in other slots before and the game reminds us of Jack and the Beanstalk, albeit less packed), there is much fun to be had playing the Gnome Wood slot.
