Launched by Net Entertainment, Fruit Spin is a bit of a blast from the past. The game can best be described as an extended video slot take on a classic fruit machine. Fruit Spin offers up a hefty 40 paylines on its 5 reels, and although those cannot be adjusted, players can still find insanely cheap bets in this slot. In fact, those bets range from just 40p per spin up to no more than £4 per game. You might think, then, that like most classic slots, special features are few and far between. That isn’t the case with this game, though. An RTP (return to player) rate of 96.84% is there for the taking, whilst players can hope to win around 300x their total bet if they strike it lucky playing this game.
Wild symbols do make an appearance in this enhanced fruit machine. They can appear as “wild” green emeralds, with these precious stones substituting for all other icons in the game, save for scatter icons. Wilds can also appear in a colossal 3×3 format, prompting big wins whenever they do so.
Scatters can also appear in 3×3 size, as well as smaller symbols. Landing at least a single row of scatter symbols across the reels will trigger a bonus feature in the slot, known as the Lucky Wheels bonus.
To begin with, players are going to be able to spin the Lucky Wheel. You’ll get one spin for every scatter you locate. Spins on the Lucky Wheel will reward players either with free spin gems (red in colour) or a cash prize. After 3 red gems have been collected, a free spin bonus begins. You get 5 spins initially, but each red gem you collect offers another spin in the bonus feature.
It seems mad to require players to collect scatters twice to trigger free spins (first the bonus icons, then the red gems) but you do get double the prizes this way if you think about it. Either way, this is a creative take on the often-outdated classic fruit machine genre of slots.
